Chapter 11

Megan tried on the third dress and stared at the floor-length mirror. This was the most nervous she had been in a very long time about something as mundane as a dance. She ran a finger along her lips, remembering the day Drew kissed her a few days ago; maybe tonight could be the start of something she mused. Although the devil, on the other shoulder, reminded of the location difference between them most of the year. She silenced that voice–for this one night, she was going to just go with the flow, and see what might happen.

She glanced in the mirror, deciding that the hunter green, over the knee skirt with a pleated waist, would be the perfect outfit for this evening’s themed activities. The dress was light, airy, and moved with her sublimely along with complimenting her color perfectly. She felt the lump in her throat dissipate slightly as her confidence grew. “You look stunning,” Drew’s breath feathered her neck, causing tiny goosebumps to travel the length of her skin.

She turned and inhaled sharply. He had on a dark blue suit, silk dress shirt in a cream color, and if he looked good in casual wear–this was definitely her new favorite side of him. He was the most gorgeous man she could recall setting eyes on, with that air about him that told you he didn’t realize how good-looking he was to women.

“You look amazing,” she said, feeling a flush across her entire body. Inhaling without being too obvious, she tried to get a grip!

“Thanks,” he replied with a huge grin. “This place always looks amazing. I try to tell my friends back home about the fun times we have here with the dances, dinners and such,” he shook his head. “It doesn’t seem to resonate. Maybe, it is one of those things that just needs to be experienced to fully understand.”

“I guess,” Megan said. “I love the ambiance. My mother has such
